Dedicated Gaming Servers in the United States: Pick Your Coast, Own Your Hardware

Most hosts hand you one US region and call it done. That works fine until half your community is on the opposite coast, eating 60ms nobody warned them about. The real decision is not "US or not." It is East, Central, or West, and picking wrong costs every player outside your chosen coast a smoother game.

Atal Networks runs dedicated gaming servers across all three US regions on Dell hardware, Intel Xeon processors, and ECC RAM, with DDoS protection, a 99.99% uptime SLA, and 24×7 engineers built into every plan. No setup fees.

Why Operators Pick Atal Networks in the US

We've been doing this since 2009. 36,000+ clients, 213+ data centers, 196 countries. Every DDoS pattern and every dead RAID array a US operator has hit, we've already seen it and fixed it.

Our SLA has teeth. 99.99% uptime is a contract, not a marketing line. Miss it and you get service credits, not an apology email.

Our DDoS filters know the difference between a player and an attack. UDP has no handshake, so most generic filters either nuke every packet or let everything through. Ours reads port pattern, packet size, and source behavior before deciding. Included on every plan. No add-on fee, ever.

Dell hardware and ECC RAM that catches errors before they crash your session. Six days into a Rust wipe, that's the difference between staying online and losing your whole community to a corrupted save.

We don't oversell. The RAM you're paying for is the RAM sitting on your server, not shared with three other tenants who all got promised the same gigabytes. Pay monthly, cancel anytime, use crypto, PayPal, card, or bank transfer.

Real engineers answer tickets, not a script. The people who built our network are the people who fix it at 3am.

Which US Region Actually Fits Your Player Base

There's no single American Frankfurt. Player bases split coast to coast, and the wrong region means real, avoidable lag for whoever's on the far side.

East Coast puts you near Ashburn, Virginia, the single densest internet interconnection point on the planet. Loudoun County is estimated to carry more than 70% of the world's data-center internet traffic, a legacy that traces back to MAE-East, one of the earliest major exchange points ever built. That density buys you direct fiber to New York, Boston, Philadelphia, DC, and Atlanta, plus the fastest bridge to European players available from US soil.

Central US splits the difference. If your community is scattered across time zones instead of stacked on one coast, Central keeps everyone's ping roughly fair.

West Coast is the call for Pacific and Mountain time zone communities, and it shaves real time off any hop toward APAC-adjacent players compared to an East Coast box.

Here's the fact most hosts won't tell you: fourteen US states have zero internet exchange points. Their traffic backhauls through Ashburn, New York, or Chicago before it goes anywhere else. If your server sits in a region without direct exchange access, that detour shows up as latency your players feel but can't explain. Our regional deployments run BGP multihoming through Simply Transit, so a carrier outage on any coast reroutes automatically, in seconds, without you lifting a finger.

Rough latency by region:

Rough latency by region

Player Location East Server Central Server West Server
New York / Boston Under 10ms ~25–30ms ~65–70ms
Atlanta / DC Under 15ms ~20–25ms ~55–60ms
Chicago / Dallas ~20–25ms Under 10ms ~30–35ms
Denver ~35–40ms ~15–20ms ~20–25ms
LA / Seattle ~65–70ms ~30–35ms Under 10ms
London / Amsterdam ~70–80ms ~90–100ms ~130–150ms

Rule of thumb

Rule of thumb: pick the region where most of your players actually live, not where you live. A ten-player group evenly split across three time zones almost always does best on Central.

When Attackers Show Up, Your Server Keeps Running

US game servers get hit more than servers almost anywhere else, simply because there are more of them to hit. Competitive CS2 and Rust servers draw booter attacks and rival griefing during peak hours like clockwork. Because UDP has no handshake, most off-the-shelf DDoS filters make a bad choice either way: block all UDP and every legitimate player drops too, or let it all through, and the attack succeeds anyway.

Our upstream filters don't make that tradeoff. They read port patterns, packet size, and source behavior, and drop the attack traffic before it ever reaches your link. Your players stay connected. Your tick rate doesn't flinch. Included on every plan, day one, no upgrade tier hiding behind a paywall.

Dedicated servers add a second wall: your CPU, RAM, and NIC belong to nobody but you, so there's no cross-tenant exposure to begin with. VPS plans get KVM kernel isolation between tenants. IPMI on dedicated servers means you can manage the box through any network event without opening a ticket and waiting.

Hardware That Actually Matches How Your Game Runs

Most game engines run physics, hit detection, and player state on a single CPU thread. That means raw core count matters less than clock speed on that one thread. A fast quad-core beats a slow sixteen-core for CS2, Rust, Minecraft, and Valheim every time. CS2's sub-tick architecture killed the old 64-tick versus 128-tick argument entirely. It's continuous now. Single-core speed and low jitter are the only numbers that matter for competitive quality.

Palworld still has its memory leak, unpatched as of 2026. RAM climbs steadily no matter how many players are on. Run 16GB minimum and schedule restarts every 2 to 4 hours. Players won't notice the restart. They will notice if you skip it.

ARK: Survival Ascended runs on Unreal Engine 5 and wants 14 to 16GB per map, minimum. A three-map cluster wants around 64GB total.

Game RAM and Plan Guide

Game Players RAM Best Plan
Terraria 8 2GB VPS Start
Minecraft vanilla 20 4–6GB VPS Boost
Valheim 10 4–8GB VPS Pro
CS2 competitive 64 16–32GB VPS Ultimate / ATAL1G
Palworld 32 16GB+ VPS Ultimate / ATAL1G
Rust (100 players) 100 32GB ATAL1G
ARK: Survival Ascended 50 32GB ATAL1G
ARK cluster (3 maps) multi 64GB ATLDUALCPU
FiveM (heavy scripts) 64 32–64GB ATLDUALCPU

Storage and Bandwidth

NVMe kills the save-lag that autosaves cause on Rust, ARK, and Valheim. On bandwidth: metered plans (5 to 100TB) fit predictable communities, but unmetered 1Gbps ($168/mo) or 10Gbps ($690/mo) is the right call once a wipe event or growth spurt makes your traffic impossible to forecast.

Who Actually Runs on These Servers

Small private communities running Minecraft, Valheim, or Project Zomboid: VPS Boost or VPS Pro, placed in the region closest to wherever most of the group lives.

Public servers with real player counts, 60 to 150+ on Rust, CS2, or DayZ: ATAL1G or ATL100TB, with DDoS protection and ECC RAM built to survive wipe-day spikes and the attacks that come with them.

US esports orgs running competitive CS2 infrastructure: an East Coast box near Ashburn gets you the fastest path to domestic players and European opponents from one server, no split-node setup required.

Resellers juggling clients across time zones: ATL1GUNMETERED or ATAL10G with custom ISO and BYOIP, deployed region by region to match whatever coast each client's players are actually on.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which US region should I pick for a gaming server? Go East if most of your players are in the eastern half of the country or in Europe. Go Central if your players are spread evenly across time zones. Go West if your base sits in the Pacific or Mountain zones. East Coast servers near Ashburn also get the fastest bridge to European players of any US region.

How much does a dedicated gaming server in the US actually cost? VPS starts at $5.25/month. Dedicated bare metal starts at $99/month with 32GB ECC RAM, 1TB storage, and 50TB bandwidth. Plans scale to $690/month for 10Gbps unmetered. DDoS protection and 24×7 engineer support come standard on every tier, no setup fees anywhere.

Should I get dedicated or just start with VPS? Under 80 players and running Minecraft, Valheim, or Project Zomboid: VPS is enough. Past 80 players, or running modded survival titles, competitive CS2, ARK clusters, or heavy FiveM scripts, dedicated is the only option that keeps tick rate stable.

Is DDoS protection actually included, or is it an upsell? Included on every plan, day one. No premium tier, no per-attack billing. Our upstream filters catch UDP floods before they reach your server, full stop.

Why does Ashburn matter if my players aren't in Virginia? Ashburn isn't about who lives there. It's about density. The concentration of internet exchanges in Loudoun County, carrying an estimated 70%+ of global data-center internet traffic, means an East Coast server gets shorter, more direct fiber paths to most of the US East and to Europe than almost any other American location.

Get a Dedicated Gaming Server in the US

Stop guessing which coast to host on. East Coast for density and the European bridge. Central for a fair split across time zones. West Coast for Pacific communities. We run servers in all three because no single region works for every player base, and pretending otherwise just means someone on your roster eats the lag.

Dedicated from $99/month. VPS from $5.25/month. No setup fees. Crypto, PayPal, card, or bank transfer.
